Early storms and a projected El Nino winter, which usually translates to more precipitation than usual, have North Lake Tahoe ski areas preparing for robust conditions. Local ski areas have begun posting their opening dates ranging from now to early December. Boreal opened on October 16 on limited terrain, but then suspended operations due to low snow levels. Squaw Valley and Northstar-at-Tahoe will be opening November 21, with Alpine Meadows following on December 5, conditions permitting.
