Back in 1972, Tim Colman of Great Britain took an odd looking boat named Crossbow for a record run in Weymouth, England, and ended up sailing at 26.30 knots over 500 meters. This was an unheard of speed at the time, and his announcement sparked the imaginations of boat designers around the world.
