The hills are alive with the sound of snowmaking, at least at Arapahoe Basin, Loveland and Copper Mountain.
The three Colorado resorts took advantage of cold temperatures and started snowmaking operations in late September, according to Colorado Ski Country USA, a state trade association.
Loveland was the first to start snowmaking operations on Sept. 21. Arapahoe Basin followed the next day. Copper Mountain joined the fun Sept. 30.
