Cycling powers France and the Netherlands have paid for poor results this season with a reduced quota of riders for the world championships.
The European nations will each start just six men in the road race staged Sept. 27 at Mendrisio, Switzerland, after both dropped out of the top 10 in the world rankings compiled by the International Cycling Union.
The entry lists were released Monday.
Britain, Norway and the United States reached the top 10 to claim the full quota of nine riders for elite nations in the 222-rider lineup, helped by good results from riders such as Mark Cavendish, Thor Hushovd and Lance Armstrong at the Tour de France last month…Â Details
