This popular L.A. bike destination is surrounded by tons of dirt trails that, despite a lack of man-made features and uphill gondy access (things the official Mammoth Mountain resort bike park offers), don’t sacrifice much in the way of scenery, conditions or challenge. Mountain bikers on a budget may want to check these out on their next drive up Hwy. 395 to Mammoth Lakes: 

Easy – Horseshoe Lake
Follow Lake Mary Road past several lakes to its end at the Horseshoe Lake parking lot. A 1.2 mile trail circling the lake is flat the whole way so it works for families.
