The third stop on the USA Cycling Pro Gravity Tour (Pro GRT) is set to get underway this weekend. Slated for August 7-9 in Snowmass Village, Colo., “Blast the Mass†will feature both downhill and four-cross competitions that factor into the overall Pro GRT rankings.
With five of the eight series races in the books, Chris Boice (Albuquerque, NM/Yeti/Fox)and Darian Harvey (Durango, Colo./Cannondale) currently lead the men’s and women’s standings with 150 and 160 points respectively. The Pro GRT four-cross event in Snowmass will take place on Saturday, Aug. 8 while the downhill portion is scheduled for Sunday on a course with 600+ feet of vertical.
In addition to being part of the Pro GRT, “Blast the Mass†also features cross-country and Super D competitions. The three-day event will serve as the Colorado State Mountain Bike Championships, the fifth stop on the Mountain States Cup Calendar, and the sixth stop on the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Gravity Calendar.
Among several other notable riders, Lance Armstrong is scheduled to contest the pro cross-country event on Saturday.
