Considering it wasn’t as big or as consistent as last January’s Super Swell Saturday event, yesterday’s session at Pe’ahi was as clean as any surfer could hope for this side of Maui glass. And when the sets came, they came hard, sending at least one charger to the hospital. And while it wasn’t historic size-wise, Tuesday did reveal some historic moments — like Francisco Porcella packing the best backside barrel ever out there, Kai Lenny celebrating twin baby girls with a progressive smoke show, and Jaws loc’s Billy Kemper and Albee Layer getting as deeply pitted as ever.
