As you might be aware all Vail Resorts are requiring reservations before skiing and riding, including Whistler Blackcomb. What doesn’t need a reservation are the backcountry trails up behind my house and towards the peak of Rainbow Mountain.
Howler is an infamous trail in Whistler that ascends on the north Flank trail, exposed with amazing views across the valley to the resorts. The are a couple ways to access it, but that is not the issue. In the winter the markers are removed which makes losing the trail a near certainty. To help me find the right way down I split up the trail, managing to stay more or less in the correct path.
