Cycling BMX – BMX Continental Series finale set for Rockford, Ill. this weekend

With round #9 of the UCI Continental Series in the books as of last weekend, there is just one UCI-sanctioned BMX event left in the U.S. this season. 

Going into the final UCI Continental Series event, Donny Robinson (Napa, Calif.) and Stephanie Barragan (Montclair, Calif.) top the elite men’s and women’s USA Cycling Power Rankings. Nicholas Long (Lakeside, Calif.) sits atop the U23 men’s list while Denzel Stein (DeSoto, Texas) and Dominique Daniels (Gilbert, Ariz.) are the number-one ranked juniors. The USA Cycling Power Rankings system awards points to riders based on their performances in UCI Super Cross World Cup events, the UCI BMX World Championships, the UCI Continental Series, and the USA Cycling BMX National Championships. USA Cycling then takes these rankings into consideration when naming athletes to U.S. National Teams for UCI World Cup events. 

The 10th and final round of the UCI Continental Series is set to go off this Saturday, June 20th, in Rockford, Ill. Then, the season will culminate with the 2009 UCI BMX World Championships in Adelaide, Australia July 20-26…  Details
