Machu Picchu Kayak Fest is a whitewater community festival to celebrate and promote the diversity of rivers surrounding the Inca citadel. Machu Picchu sets high in the Andes Mountains in Peru, above the Urubamba River valley. The festival takes place on the first week of November in the town of Santa Teresa and its surrounding rivers just 1½ hour hike from the actual archaeological site of Machu Picchu.
