SURFERS craving big waves off the Gold Coast this week could find themselves part of a shark smorgasbord.
Dozens of surfers flocked to the southern beaches over the weekend to take advantage of the three-metre-plus waves which are expected to continue for the next few days, whipped up by the wild weather.
But dodging floating debris and massive walls of water won’t be the only dangers for boardriders.
Gold Coast Bulletin fishing expert Paul Burt has warned the big waves will entice plenty of sharks off the Gold Coast who will go looking for food after the floods.
He said there would be plenty of food washed in to the ocean from the rivers by the flooding.
“There’s a lot of debris and a lot of sharks floating around after the floods. It is shark country at the moment,” he said…Â Details
