With perfect weather and an immaculate halfpipe, the women’s finals were one for the books. 16-year-old defending champion Chloe Kim saw what the competition had to offer and threw down a frontside 1080 that no one could match. Chloe’s riding was so consistent that she actually improved her score on each of her three runs, finishing seven points ahead of second-place finisher Elena Hight. Rounding out the podium was 17-year-old Maddie Mastro.
The 35th annual Burton US Open Snowboarding Championships went out with a bang at the men’s halfpipe finals. Defending champ Shaun White put together a legendary second run, upping the ante with massive airs and a Cab Double Cork 1440 for good measure. His win makes him a seven-time Burton US Open Halfpipe champion. Aussie Scotty James put together a solid run for second, and Chase Josey kept it technical for third.
