The Titans of Mavericks big-wave surf contest appears to be done for the foreseeable future. Contest organizers Cartel Management Inc. and Titans of Mavericks LLC filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Tuesday, according to a filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court.
According to NBC Bay Area, the contest organizer’s financial standing was already bringing the viability of this year’s contest into question before the bankruptcy filings with unpaid bills, unpaid permits and lawsuits.
