Men’s and women’s halfpipe finals were split into two days at the 2016 edition of X Games Aspen. On Saturday night, during the men’s event, a furious snowstorm descended on Colorado and forced the cancellation of the contest after only one run. With just a single drop deciding the winners, Matt Ladley was awarded his first X Games gold, Ben Ferguson won silver, and Scotty James took the bronze. Sunday the snow was still coming down, but not nearly as hard and so the women were able to complete all three runs. Chloe Kim earned her second gold medal, following up on her 2015 X Games win, with Arielle Gold coming in second and Xuetong Cai earning third
