A surfer has been described as ‘lucky to be alive’ after a wipeout that saw them washed up on rocks in Cornwall.
They were surfing the Cribbar ahead of high spring tides on Tuesday afternoon. The reef, which is also known as the ‘Widow Maker’, is found off Towan Headland in Newquay. Its waves attract experienced surfers from across the world and can reach 20 – 25 ft.
