Rich Harbour still has his first business license – purchased for $15 from the city of Seal Beach on June 30, 1962.
He was so young, he had to put his dad’s name on it.
Up the road, at about the same time, the owners of Katin Surf Shop were known for making canvas boat covers. But after a hot-doggin’ surfer walked into the shop to ask for a new kind of surf short, Katin became the go-to place for what we know today as board shorts.
