Raser Technologies will unveil a 100+ mpg SUV at the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) World Congress later this month. The vehicle will be powered by Raser’s E-REV powertrain and was developed in conjunction with Raser’s integration partner, FEV and an as-yet-unnamed global automaker. The full-size SUV is a four-wheel drive Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (E-REV) designed to achieve over 100 mpg in typical local daily driving with near zero emissions by driving up to 40 miles per day in all-electric mode.

Ever need help biking up one of Seattle’s killer hills? There’s a solution that combines a mountain bike and a motor, but only if you can’t handle the burn.
“Power only when you need it. In fact, it will go 20 miles at full throttle on just the lithium ion power cell before recharging, but it can go up to 40 miles if you’re pedaling,” said Greg Taylor, owner of Max-MPG Scooters in Pierce County.
Ashland electric vehicle companies plan to compete in a race across the pond to be the fastest clean-emission motorcycle
Come June, representatives from two Ashland electric vehicle companies will travel to the Isle of Man, midway between England and Ireland, to race against each other — and about 20 other competitors.
Brammo Inc. and Barefoot Motors each are developing an electric motorcycle they plan to race in the Time Trials Xtreme Grand Prix, scheduled for June 12. Only clean-emission motorcycles will be allowed to race in the TTXGP, the world’s first carbon-free grand prix.
Brammo engineers are developing a motorcycle based on the company’s Enertia model. Adjustments to the motorcycle’s battery pack, motor and bodywork will allow the new model to go about twice as fast…Â Details
Zero Motorcycles was a surprise hit in 2008, selling out its stock of ‘X’ battery-electric motocross bikes much faster than expected and proving in the process that customers are well and truly ready to slap down the dollars for a quality electric off-roader. Now the company has announced the Zero S – a street-legal electric supermotard capable of 60mph and with a 60-mile range off a full 4-hour battery charge. At under US$10,000 – before you get your 10% Federal plug-in vehicle credit – the Zero S joins the Vectrix electric maxi-scooter in the list of truly practical electric bikes capable of freeway speeds. And with a power-to-weight ratio almost identical to Suzuki’s DR-Z400SM, it should be a bag of laughs to ride. If consumers liked the X, we reckon they’ll go crazy to be the first on the block to ride this street-legal, lean, green giggle machine.
Technology is finally beginning to catch up with the demands of the market in electric vehicles…Â Â Â … Details
