500 high school mountain bikers from 35 schools across northern California are eagerly awaiting the opening round of the 2009 Northern California High School Mountain Bike Racing Series, which begins March 1 with the 2009 Central Coast Invitational at East Garrison at Fort Ord, near Monterey.
The 2009 series opener is held on a fun course featuring lots of single track over rolling hills in mountain biking’s classic Fort Ord venue. Riders will complete multiple laps of a circuit that is approximately 6.0 miles per lap.

American mountain bike all-rounder Marla Streb (Luna Chix) fell in love with Costa Rica five years ago, so much so that she and her husband moved there in 2007 with plans to launch Marla Streb Mountain Bike Skills Camp. A handful of women’s only camps are scheduled for 2009, with 12 camps scheduled in all.
“I was turned on to Costa Rica when I raced La Ruta for the first time, about five years ago,” Streb told BikeRadar. “I thought it would be a perfect place to start building mountain bike trails to really get into the jungles. So I moved here about two years ago and have been building up the trails and the business, on top of racing with Luna.”…Â More info
