Several of Australia’s ski areas opened with little or no snow on June 5th/6th, but that has all changed in the past week with snow falling at most centres, leading to excellent early –season conditions.
Perisher opened its Mt Perisher ski slopes last week reporting conditions for this early in the season, “the best in a decade.â€
The resort had received 58cm (almost two feet) of fresh snow since Sunday 7 June and thanks also to Perisher’s $19 million snowmaking expansion, Saturday 13 June saw Towers Run on Mt Perisher open for skiing and boarding.

With the snow season officially over, it’s time to put away the snowboard and pull out the wakeboard. While most people probably stick their winter stick in a corner of the garage, there are a few things to know about proper snowboard storage.
Give it a Bath
Snowboards can collect a lot of dirt and debris over the course of a season. Before putting your board to bed for the season, give it a thorough cleaning with a good base cleaner to ensure that you won’t have junk embedded in your base come opening day. This is a good time to use your P-Tex to fix any base gouges.
