Victory Motorcycles made a chess move worthy of Bobby Fischer in 2001. That was the year it first enlisted the services of one Arlen Ness, aka the Godfather of Custom Motorcycle Builders. The introduction of the Arlen Ness Signature Series Accessories made exclusively for Victory followed. It was a savvy marketing strategy. What better name could you have associated with your motorcycles than Arlen Ness, a legend in the custom building world? The only move that could sweeten the pot more would be to enlist the services of Arlen’s son Cory as well, who is a distinguished custom motorcycle builder in his own right. The age-old question has been asked more and more lately. What defines a Fighter? Well, depending how many people you ask, you’ll typically get that many different answers. We’ll get the obvious out of the way. Sport oriented motorcycle removed of anything unnecessary to its function. Typically stripped of most bodywork, fitted with higher rise handlebars, smaller, lighter parts to reduce weight and as much performance mods as available to make it wicked fast. The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) is pleased to announce the first member of the AMA Motorcycle Hall of Fame Class of 2009, each of whom will be revealed in random order over the next few weeks. Among the honorees who will take to the stage at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas this Dec. 5 will be seven-time AMA National Enduro Champion Randy Hawkins.

“In the world of off-road racing, one of the toughest sports on the planet, there are few who can match the stellar accomplishments of Randy Hawkins,” said AMA President and CEO Rob Dingman. “From the late 1980s through the ’90s, Randy made it look easy, dominating the AMA National Enduro Championships, while carrying the flag proudly in international competition.”
