The North American Blokart Sailing Association (NABSA) has been selected as host for the 2012 Blokart World Championships. The event will be sailed at a venue often called the Mecca of land yachting, Ivanpah dry lake bed situated near the Californian / Nevada boarder town of Primm.

Ivanpah Lake is a dry lake bed in the Mojave Desert of San Bernardino County, California on the border of California and Nevada. Nestled in the Ivanpah Valley near Primm on Interstate 15, the 35-square-mile (34 km2) lake is almost entirely within California.

The World Sailing Speed Record (WSSR) Council has confirmed two new world records.

The French kitesurfer Charlotte Consorti is now the fastest female rider in the globe, as the 50.43-knot speed record has been ratified. us-sailingAmerican, Canadian, and British skippers and their teams each won a Paralympic division at Sunday’s third and final round of racing at the U.S. Disabled Sailing Championships (USDSC) in St. Petersburg, Fla.

This US Sailing National Championship, hosted by the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, featured racers competing in one of three Paralympic classes: 2.4mR (singlehanded), SKUD-18 (doublehanded), and Sonar (triplehanded). Canadian Bruce Millar (Richmond, B.C. CAN) won the 2.4mR fleet, U.S. Sailing Team AlphaGraphics (USSTAG) sailors Scott Whitman (Brick, N.J.) and Julia Dorsett (Westchester, Pa.) were winners in the SKUD-18s, and British skipper John Robertson (Portland, Dorset, GBR) and his crewmates Hannah Stodel and Steve Thomas captured the Sonar division.
