Risking life and limb at more than 130kmh over water may not be everyone’s idea of fun but for the racers in the North Island Water Ski Racing Championships on Wellington Harbour at the weekend there was nothing quite like it.

Testing conditions greeted competitors in the NZ Offshore Powerboat Championship in Napier on Saturday, and despite one to two metre swells and a one metre chop, both the 100-mile and 60-mile races saw very close racing.
