SONOMA, Calif. – Thousands of local drag racers and race fans are ready to be a part of the fourth season of PINKS All Out at Infineon Raceway, Sept. 17-18.
PINKS All Out, the popular drag racing reality show on SPEED TV, debuted at Infineon Raceway in 2008 before a near-capacity grandstand, and will return for its only West Coast appearance of the year.
Nearly 500 grassroots drag racers from all around the country and Canada are ready to hit the track and race for their chance to be selected by host Rich Christensen and his colleagues for the PINKS All Out final 16. This group of 16 drag racers will then battle for bragging rights, with the winner receiving $25,000 in cash and prizes. Each member of the group of 16 will receive a $550 WIX Filters certificate.

GRAVEL SWITCH — After 17 years of drag-racing toilets, it looks like the annual Outhouse Blowout at Penn’s Store might be running out of steam.
In previous years, the historic general store’s latrine-based competition attracted an average of 2,500 people — enough to fill the field in front of the store with hundreds of vehicles. Scheduled for the weekend of Oct. 15-17 at famed Auto Club Famoso Raceway just north of Bakersfield, Calif., NHRA’s California Hot Rod Reunion presented by the Automobile Club of Southern California is a three-day festival of nostalgic drag racing, hot rods, “Ameri-car-na,†and heroes. From dragster builders to dragstrip kings, this year’s group of Reunion honorees played a major role in the early days of drag racing. Heading the bill is grand marshal Tom Hanna. Renowned for his metal-shaping skills, Hanna is perhaps best known for hand-forming the station-wagon body on Tommy Ivo’s four-engine Show Boat and countless full-bodied dragsters.
