Robby Naish, 54, has been inducted into the National Sailing Hall of Fame (NSHOF), at the New York Yacht Club, in Newport.
The windsurfing legend and seven other inductees were honored for the impact they have had in sailing. The National Sailing Hall of Fame has now enshrined 65 sailors.
Robert Staunton Naish was born on April 23, 1963, in La Jolla, San Diego, California. He started windsurfing at the age of 11 when his family moved to Oahu’s Kailua, Hawaii.

After the tragic death of British journalist Paul McClean in Sri Lanka on Thursday, it seems surfers can now add crocodiles to the list of deadly dangers in the sport. While McLean wasn’t actually surfing at the time of his death, he had been staying at a surf camp near the well-known spot of Elephant Rock and had walked 500 yards to relieve himself near a lagoon when he was taken by the crocodile.
