Offshore PWC/Jet Ski Racers from around the United States have already lined up to convene at The Dana Point Marina on Sunday April 5, 2009 at 8 am to take on the new Dana Point to Avalon challenge for man/woman and machine. The race is an APBA sanctioned event and will include Profession, Amateur and Veteran class racers who will take on the 37 mile, wide open throttle offshore sprint across the channel to Catalina Island on their PWCs. Gerner, founder of PWCOFFSHORE.com said that he is “pleased to see yet another great APBA sanctioned offshore endurance event in Southern California, its exciting to see the offshore PWC racing arena growing and attracting new offshore enthusiasts that are willing to challenge the elements in the open ocean with their watercraft. A pod of dolphins and melon-headed whales escorted the Hokulea this morning as it ended a 1,000 mile voyage to Palmyra Atoll.
