On Friday 1 May at 1719hrs, Sail-World (along with many others) received an alert from the New York State Unified Court system advising that a motion had been filed to ‘Disqualify Counsel’.
It was widely believed to have been lodged by Societe Nautique de Geneve, seeking to disqualify one of the Golden Gate Yacht Club team, involved in their Contempt of Court action, set down for Hearing on the 14 May, in the New York Supreme Court.
That Contempt action is seeking to punish Societe Nautique de Geneve for advising that the 33rd match for the America’s cup will be sailed three months later than previously Ordered by the New York Supreme Court.

Winds of 40 knots off Gulf Harbour caused racing to be postponed for a day, but it was worth the wait for Round 8, the final round of the Rayglass NZ Offshore Powerboat Championships series.
Conditions were superb on Sunday and the choppy conditions didnt detract from the sheer excitement of winning their first championship titles for Tony Coleman and Chris Handley in Cure Kids and Greg Brinck and Eldon Archer in Konica Minolta in the final round of the 2009 Rayglass New Zealand Offshore Powerboat Championship.
The seasons final race was delayed by one day due to high winds on the scheduled Saturday, so competitors were delighted to wake up on Sunday to bright sunshine and significantly less wind…Â Details, Results & PicturesÂ
