The team who will attempt to break the world personal watercraft record by riding from London to New Zealand is in place and in training for their 32,000 km epic journey to boost public awareness about ways to prevent cancer and raise funds for global cancer research.
New Zealand pilot Jeremy Burfoot will lead The Ultimate Ride team of Irish ‘petrol head’ Adrian Erangey, Kiwis Travis Donoghue and Garry Learmonth and Ivan Otulic from Croatia. Otulic and Erangey are particularly well qualified to attempt the personal watercraft (PWC) record. The second most important college sailing competition of the year was held over the weekend of May 1st and second, and for the second consecutive year the action was dominated by schools from the East Coast. Â
From the 200+ active racing programs that compete under the auspices of the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA), 36 schools were seeded based on performance, into one of the two semi-final rounds of the ICSA/Gill Coed National Championship: the ICSA National Championship Eastern semi-finals which took place at the College of Charleston (Charleston, South Carolina) or the ICSA National Championship Western semi-finals at the University of Washington (Seattle, Washington).Â
