Mercury Racing has earned the 2011 Environmental Award for Economic Feasibility and Sustainability from the Union International Motonautique, according to a press release from the Fond du Lac, Wis., company. The UIM is the world governing body for all power boating activities.

Fountain Powerboats and its affiliates filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last week for the second time in less than three years.
The filing was recorded Jan. 18 with the bankruptcy court in the Southern District of Florida, West Palm Beach. The company listed more than $53 million in liabilities and less than $50,000 in assets, according to court documents.

This week (Saturday 21st January) Laura Dekker, 16-year-old Dutch/New Zealander solo sailor, quietly sailed between islands in pleasant seas into the Dutch island of Sint Maarten in the Caribbean, completing a solo odyssey around the world in a year and a day.

Held each December since 2000 the Bora Bora Liquid Festival (better known to the locals as the IronMana) takes over the pristine crystal clear waters of Bora Bora, Polynesias most beautiful island atoll. The week long festival is an all-out celebration of multiple ocean-based disciplines including a 6km swim, a 55km surfski division, a waterman triathlon, SUP and Va’a sprint races, and of coarse the festival’s traditional endurance race. On the final day of the festival the best of the best watermen compete in either a 40 km SUP and Lay Down Paddle Race, a 50 km Surf Ski Race, or the 60 km Solo Outrigger Canoe Race.
