What a difference a year has made in the world of SCORE Baja motorcycle racing. Just when it looked like the invincible Johnny Campbell Racing factory-supported Honda team would give Honda its 20th overall win in the granddaddy of all desert races, along came Kawasaki with a factory-supported team of its own filled with superstar former Honda riders. The 42nd Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 desert race will be held next week in Ensenada, Baja California, Mexico.

On October 30, a Buell Lightning XB12Scg rolled off the company’s East Troy, Wis. assembly line, the last of the 136,923 motorcycles built in the company’s 26 years of operation. Parent Harley-Davidson announced on October 15 that the Buell lineup of motorcycles would be discontinued effective December 18, 2009. Buell motorcycles will continue to be sold through existing dealers until inventory is depleted.
Peugeot looks to be getting serious about its 3WD hybrid design which we first saw last year at the 2008 Paris Motorcycle Show with the HYbrid3 compressor. Debuting at the Milan Motorcycle Show will be a roofless version named the HYbrid3 Evolution which replaces the 21 bhp 125 cm3 supercharged motor with a 41 bhp 300 cm3 supercharged engine giving it a total of 49 bhp when combined with the two 3 kW (4.1 bhp) front wheel motors.
