The long-awaited 2010 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship is quickly descending on the dirt-bike racing world. Just two weeks following the conclusion of an exciting season of AMA Supercross competition, the world’s best riders return to the track for their annual summer-long test of endurance and physical challenges. This Saturday, May 22, the Rockstar Energy Hangtown Classic makes its return as the season-opening round of the 12-race championship.

TTXGP’s inaugural North American race is in the bag at Infineon, as race fans got to see two close battles for first and third place this weekend. Blasting off the line was the yellow Lightning Motors bike, or the “Flying Banana†as it’s become known here in the paddock. Lightning’s rider, Michael Barnes, made quick work of Shawn Higbee and his Zero/Agni race bike off the line and on the straights, showing a very strong power package.

Motorcycle history was made, and some say an altogether new age for American racing was also born, with the running of the first sanctioned electric-powered motorcycle road race on U.S. soil at Sonoma county California’s Infineon Raceway on May 16.
