(August 28, 2010) – The Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Championship returned to action on Saturday with the Rockstar Energy Southwick National presented by Traxxas, Round 10 of the 12-race season, from Moto-X 338 in Southwick, Mass. Keeping up with the dominating trend he’s set this season, Rockstar/Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey, of Belle Plaine, Minn., raced to his ninth consecutive 450 Class victory by sweeping the day’s motos and in the process, secured the premier class title with two rounds remaining. Dani Pedrosa trimmed a little from Jorge Lorenzo’s MotoGP championship lead by winning at Indianapolis ahead of Ben Spies.
Lorenzo had to settle for third this time, followed by his Yamaha teammate Valentino Rossi and Pedrosa’s Honda stablemate Andrea Dovizioso, but still heads the standings by 68 points.

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) congratulates Team USA, which raced to victory against the world’s top junior riders at the FIM Junior Motocross World Championship, Aug. 22-24, in Dardon Gueugnon, France. The event included motocross prodigies from 34 nations competing for both individual and team FIM World Championships.
American rider Jake Pinhancos took the victory in the 65cc class, Josh Mosiman was the top 85cc rider, finishing 11th overall, and Joey Savatgy placed second overall in the highly competitive 125cc class. Ben Spies claimed his first MotoGP pole position on home ground by beating Jorge Lorenzo and Nicky Hayden at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
On the weekend that he was announced as a factory Yamaha rider for 2011, current Tech 3 man Spies initially jumped to pole with a 1m40.465s a quarter of an hour from the end.
