Jorge Lorenzo says he is not panicking about Yamaha’s disappointing current form and would rather be defending a points lead on a slower bike than having to close a gap on a faster bike.

Having dominated the early part of the season, Yamaha has slipped behind main rivals Honda and Ducati in recent weeks, and at Aragon last weekend it could only finish fourth and sixth with Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi – the first time Lorenzo has missed the podium all year.  …  Details

Hang on, it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

One could expect a trek across the United States to be a little taxing, but making the journey on a pre-1916 motorcycle racing against more than 50 other competitors cross-country could get more than arduous – if the rider makes it at all.

The Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run, a coast-to-coast race on vintage machines, will make a stop in Fort Smith this evening as the riders break for food before heading into Oklahoma, according to Terri Hargrove, motor clothes manager for Old Fort Harley-Davidson, which will host a barbecue dinner for the bikers.

Hargrove said they anticipate the vintage motorcycles will start arriving around 4 p.m. this evening at the shop, 6304 S. 36th St., and be on display in the parking lot until 6:30 p.m  …  Details

Casey Stoner produced a measured performance to chalk up his first win of the season in the inaugural Aragon MotoGP this afternoon. The Australian Ducati rider got the better of championship leader Jorge Lorenzo (Yamaha) in a first lap duel for the lead, before asserting his superiority at the front.

Spanish home hero Dani Pedrosa took up the chase, but could not get close enough to seriously challenge Stoner, who looked calm and assured at the head of the field despite crashing in the warm-up this morning  …  Details
