San Manuel Yamaha’s James Stewart might still be the fastest man on the planet, but it’s not a gap like it was before back to the next guy. Stewart has always been unbelievably fast, and in the past, he hasn’t had to worry much about someone he just passed trying to pressure him, much less having someone catch him from behind. Rockstar/Makita Suzuki’s Ryan Dungey has dealt with way more criticism than anyone with a record like his should have had to deal with. Since he won the Supercross title in 2010, it seems some people can’t talk about anything else except how Dungey “wouldn’t have won if (insert rider name here) were racing”. It carried through the nationals, and even on National TV, some MX legends said that Dungey had to beat them all this year to “legitimize” his championship. Well, on Saturday night inside Angel Stadium in Anaheim, Dungey finished a strong second to Ryan Villopoto, beating two out of the three guys he needed to beat to “legitimize” his championship.

A huge crowd filled Chase Field on Saturday night for the second race of the 2011 Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship, season. After finishing third at the season opener one week ago, San Manuel/Red Bull Yamaha’s James Stewart, of Haines City, Fla., took his first win of the championship.
