Factory Suzuki boss, Paul Denning, reckons John Hopkins has already proved that he is worthy of another chance to race in the MotoGP world championship. Replacing the injured Alvaro Bautista, who broke his left femur in a practice crash for the opening race in Qatar last month, Hopkins was 10th in his first MotoGP race since the end of 2008. And Denning said his performance proved Hopkins, who is back to full fitness after an injury-ravaged three years, should be back as a permanent fixture on the MotoGP grid in the future.

For the 2012 season, MotoGP will be reverting back to its 1,000cc format (actually, it used to be 990cc, but what’s ten cubic centimeters among friends?). While many MotoGP fans have been awaiting the day that the “big bikes” would return to premier racing with their powersliding, rider chewing, wheelie popping ways, it’s hard to get excited when the first two races of the last 800cc season have been so eventful. Word is spreading over the internet that Big Dog Motorcycles is closing its doors. Blogger Cyril Huze is the first to report the company has been calling dealers to inform them that Big Dog Motorcycles is going under. The Wichita Eagle, located in the same city as Big Dog’s manufacturing plant and headquarters, didn’t run the same story but did report that BDM cut another 10 production workers and is down to 22 employees. In the Wichita Eagle story, it states that company president Mike Simmons is deferring questions about the company’s status to Big Dog owner Sheldon Coleman, who couldn’t be reached at the time the article was published  …  More
