Unadilla brought about the most unpredictable racing thus far on the series. In the first moto, bad luck struck for many frontrunners, including Jake Weimer, James Stewart, and Michael Byrne, who all went down while leading. In Moto 2, things turned out as expected, and Ryan Dungey made history by capturing the first 450 Championship for KTM in the United States. The 250 Class was unpredictable as well, as Ken Roczen made his way to the front in search of his first moto win the year. When the dust settled after Moto 2, it was his teammate Musquin walking away with his first-ever overall.

The Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championship, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing, hosted its annual stop from Central New York on Saturday, with the 10th round of the season from Unadilla. Continuing his dominance of the 450 Class field, Red Bull KTM’s Ryan Dungey, of Belle Plaine, Minn., captured his second career title with two rounds remaining by sweeping the day’s motos for his eighth consecutive victory. In the 250 Class, Red Bull KTM’s Marvin Musquin, of France, broke through for his first career win on U.S. soil.

On Aug. 26 Metal Mulisha rider Derek Garland will once again take on something no other rider in FMX has ever attempted to conquer. Far from the comforts of his running shoes [used for cross training] and his dirt bike boots, Garland will attempt the famous 1.5 mile swim from Alcatraz island to the shores of the San Francisco at the 10th annual Alcatraz Classic: Swim with the Centurians. He is definitely the first rider to attempt to conquer such a feat.
