The number of competitors dwindled further as competition ran through the first half of Round 4. The surf was on the inconsistent side at times, but that didn’t stop the competitors from posting high scores. Veterans and fan favorites were ousted, as the heat draw thins going into the final day of the event tomorrow.

Its always a hard decision how to start a new year, however if you have ever been to Cape Town in January or February, then that decision is made considerably easier! Flying out to test some of the new NKB kites and to hook up with the team, we spend about six weeks on the Cape in total. Valle Aurina is a gem of a valley adjoining Italy/South Tyrol and Austria to the north. On a trip with W Steger’s Ahrntal Aktiv we rode from Kasern up the N side of Valle Aurina with fine views of the Dreiherrenspitze (3499m) and Rotspitze (3498m) talking about ski touring on a fine mountain biking day. We then looped on singletrack and then doubletrack back down the valley high traverse and S side to Kasern, Prettau and finally Steinhaus.
