I talked about wanting to do a backflip on skis since middle school. With no mentors to help me through the mental blocks that stand strong with trick like this, I finally found some friends to talk me through it last year. After crashing a lot, I spent the summer visualizing landing them. Then, winter came again, and I tried again!
This was shot on December 29th, 2015. Since then conditions have changed a bit. Snow stability is getting better, though deep instability does still exist. Though I am excited to start going higher and skiing steeper terrain, it’s days like this one that remind me of what skiing is really about. Getting outside and spending time with friends is always a good time. Especially during the holidays. Also, Emily Baker is full of so many fun snow science facts!
Whether you’re a beginner backcountry skiier or not, Glory is an amazing asset to our busy lives. I enjoy this hike early in the morning with the sunrise before work, before an epic powder day at the resort, or really any other point in the day. It’s quick and relatively easy, making it a reliable part of ski life for most Jackson locals!
These guys are crazy bombing public mountain roads on drift trikes at high speeds. It’s always fun hanging out with these guys and playing on trikes. All of their trikes are made by them. We definitely want to get a couple for ourselves haha.

During the riders three runs the battles got crazy, making it difficult to predict who would win, but in the end it was Japan’s Ayumu Hirano, and USA’s Arielle Gold, who went away 2016 LAAX OPEN Halfpipe champs, $75.000 and $45,000 USD richer.
