Urban downhill racing has shifted from being a slightly awkward but spectacular sideshow to a mainstay of many pro riders’ off-seasons. Dirt tracks are left behind for rich urban landscapes where mountain bikers charge through meaty stair-sets, backyard allies, and rooftop gaps with harsh landings that would leave most broken on the ground. On Monday, February 1st, 2016, professional mountain biker Kelly McGarry passed away as a result of sudden cardiac arrest while riding his bike on a remote trail in his home country of New Zealand. “Peaking: Rampage | 72 Hours With Kelly McGarry”, filmed in October of 2015, is an intimate portrait of legendary mountain biker, Kelly “McGazza” McGarry, shot over 72 hours during his final competitive event – the 2015 Red Bull Rampage.
