“The Eddie” can go. Quiksilver, World Surf League (WSL) and the Aikau family have reached an agreement, and the iconic big wave surfing competition will continue uninterrupted.
The contest format remains the same for the 2016/2017 edition. The event will be called on somewhere between December 1st, and February 28th, only if waves reach a minimum size of 20 feet.

After 31 Years, The 2016 “Eddie” Goes Down as the Biggest in History.
The opening of your local mountain is always a day to celebrate and this season our new European Regional team gave it the full send!
In early October as the glaciers began to open the crew made their rounds to Hintertux, Kaunertal and Stubai to session each park with a fresh round of technical rail tricks and uber stylish jumps.
The Localism crew consists of Katha Buchegger holding it down for the ladies, the always technical Max Glatzl and Lorenz Vyslozil, German rippers Felix Georgii, Gabor Abonyi, Tobi Hartmuth and the young Finn Rene Rinnekangas. Each one hails from a different local scene but brought their own style and approach to the glaciers.
