Starting in Portland, we drove from the single speed worlds to Santa Cruz. stopping at a few spots along the way. So much fun was had, many different riders all having fun on bikes. the best. thanks to Allan Cooke for the organization and hype.
Indonesia is blessed with some of the best waves on the planet. The waves come from deep water with massive amounts of power. Even when the wind kicks in you can find perfect clean hollow waves. Chasing a swell to Indo as a kitesurfer has it’s challenges though. There isn’t a real wind forecast so you never really know what you’re going to get.
This year Keahi de Aboitiz, Moona Whyte and Matt Elsasser sat around waiting for the wind in front of their favorite wave while a big black ugly rain cloud came to visit everyday. As soon as the wind picked up, it started raining and the wind died.
In the end, they found new spots with no one around, and scored a couple sessions at their favorite place.
