Dennis Busenitz put together a near flawless final run to win his second Tampa Pro title. Busenitz flew in from San Francisco the night before the finals only to come out the next day and put on one of his best performances of his career.
SURFER’S 2011 Oakley Surf Shop Challenge got a late start on Friday due to tsunami warnings. But when the gates finally opened at Seaside Reef’s unusually empty and eerily foggy parking lot, the bar was immediately set high for the entire day. In consistent, shoulder to head-high surf, 13 local San Diego teams vied for bragging rights, but in the end it was the reining champs from Hansen’s who once again took home the title.
