San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh discusses owning IndyCar Series team Panther Racing, two-time league champions now sponsored by the National Guard and led by driver JR Hildebrand. Harbaugh was a founding member of the team while playing for the Colts in Indianapolis and the team’s IndyCar is No. 4 because it was his jersey number during his NFL career. Harbaugh has said the start of the Indy 500 is the “greatest single moment in all of sports” and that the historic race is “better than Christmas”. Panther’s IndyCar ran a full 49ers paint scheme during the 2012 IndyCar Series race at Sonoma Raceway.
