The Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring annually produces one of the world’s most grueling road racing events. Now, in its 57th year, the Sebring classic gives the drivers and their respective cars a brutal pounding on the historic, former World War II airport-racing surface.
The preparation required just to complete the 12-hour distance is remarkable, let alone winning the race.

David Brabham expects Saturday’s 12-hour race at Sebring International Raceway to feel a lot longer than half a day.
“You know, when you’re driving a brand new car in an endurance race, and especially on a demanding track like this one, it can be a very, very long day,” said Brabham, who will co-drive one of two all-new Acura ARX 02a in the 57th edition of America’s oldest sports car race.

Sixteen-year-old Rangiora student Matt Summerfield is taking the good oil with the bad as he prepares to contend the 2009 New Zealand Rally Championship in the five-round competition’s first diesel-powered entry.
The Rally of Hawke’s Bay on April 4-5 will be the first rally run for the Class 2 turbo-diesel Skoda Fabia vRS built by Auckland rally enthusiast Allan Geddes and motor dealership Giltrap Prestige.
Summerfield has, however, already tested its torque in the two-wheel-drive class of last weekend’s Rakaia Zig Zag Sprint in which he proved that entering an oil burner was not a case of smoke and mirrors.
