Automobile NASCAR – Martin Wins Wreck-Filled Southern 500

If Mark Martin keeps winning like this, even he might have to concede that he is racing for a Sprint Cup championship.

Martin, 50, won for the second time in the last four races, outlasting Jimmie Johnson in a wreck-filled show at Darlington Raceway on Saturday night.

“Once we got out front, man, it was just easy,” Martin said. “The car was awesome.”

Martin’s only other Darlington win was in the 1993 Southern 500, a 16-year stretch.

Automobile NASCAR – NASCAR’s Jeremy Mayfield fails drug test

Mayfield, a driver and owner, is suspended indefinitely over the violation.

Reporting from Darlington, S.C. — NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver and owner Jeremy Mayfield has been suspended indefinitely after failing a random drug test administered at Richmond (Va.) International Raceway last week.
