Stobart VK M-Sport Ford drivers Matthew Wilson and Henning Solberg put early set-backs behind them to earn a superb double-points finish at the sixth round of the FIA World Rally Championship, Rally d’Italia Sardegna.  Wilson produced another consistent performance to finish sixth overall while Solberg just missed out on seventh place despite a last-minute charge that saw him win two of the last three stages.

Following the ceremonial start on Thursday night outside the town hall in Olbia the 60 starters headed away from the coastal town inland towards the forests on Friday morning to tackle two three-stage loops covering 130kms.  Conditions were hot and hard and proved a stern test for the Pirelli Scorpion control gravel tyres used by all the teams.

Wilson and co-driver Scott Martin suffered a hydraulic problem only a couple of kilometres from the start of SS1 forcing the young Brits to use manual gear shift throughout the morning stages.  The centre diff of Wilson’s Ford Focus RS WRC was also affected by…  Details

ATV’s take on the Devils steps, hindhead, devils punchbowl. The nasty rock climb, looking easy on video but hard work.

NASCAR randomly drug-tested 10 crew members from 10 teams during the rain delay at the Coca-Cola 600, an apparent tweak to the first three months of in-season testing.

Because rain delayed the start, crew members were seen entering the infield care center, where the tests were conducted during intermittent showers…  Details

What more do you need than to be able to see the haze in the trees, the June Bugs pinging off the track lights, the combined fragrance of 110 octane and scorching rubber? Throw in a couple hundred intoxicated rednecks oozing Bud Light and Budweiser from their pores, and I am in heaven.

Kil Kare Speedway, located in Xenia, Ohio has been a NASCAR “home track” for 19 years, but has existed since 1951. Then, a dirt fifth-mile oval, was renovated in 1955 into the third-mile, D-shaped oval it is known for today. Next door, the NHRA saw a golden opportunity in 1959 when the Green County Airport relocated to establish a sanctioned drag strip, and has been a southwest central Ohio icon of motor sports since. Occasionally, when my schedule permits, I will attend the round track on Friday nights, and the quarter mile showdowns on Saturdays. Running the NASCAR Whelen All American Series, Sports Stock, Modified, and Compact Divisions weekly, May 22ND also offered fans a glimpse of what it would be like if your school bus drivers lost their marbles and went on a rampage. That’s right folks, school bus racing, concluded by a subsequent demolition derby of said vehicles. However, I digress…  Details
