The Obama Administration is considering carrying out a Bush-era plan to restrict the number of snowmobiles that are allowed to access Yellowstone National Park each day. The giant park, which crosses state boundaries into Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana, is otherwise inaccessible to visitors in winter months. Lobbyists for the snowmobile industry say that this is just the first step to an outright ban that would effectively close the park in winter months, and cave to environmental concerns raised by those who rarely visit Yellowstone. BAKERSFIELD, CA – The 18th Annual California Hot Rod Reunion, presented by Automobile Club of Southern California, is the place to relive the good old days of drag racing as well as honor some of the coolest nicknamed drivers and drag strip heroes, Oct. 16-18.
This year´s Honorees are Danny Broussard, Don Moody, Steve Reyes, “Jet Car Bob” Smith and Walt Stevens. The Grand Marshal is stock and Funny Car veteran of over 50 years Jess Tyree, better known as “Mr. Pontiac.”
Grand Marshal Jess Tyree is a stock and Funny Car veteran of over fifty years in the sport. Jess started drag racing in the early days of the Santa Ana Drags with a variety of vehicles including a ´38 Chevy. A few years later he raced a ´57 Plymouth Fury, was recognized for his ability and was asked to drive a new ´57 Pontiac. Formula One driver Felipe Massa was awake Monday and talking to family members, making significant improvement after his high-speed crash.
The chief surgeon at AEK hospital said Massa was breathing unassisted and moving his limbs. In addition, a drain from his skull wound was removed.
Chief surgeon Lajos Zsiros said the 28-year-old Brazilian is groggy but able to adequately answer questions. He says further improvement can be expected.
Massa crashed Saturday during qualifying at the Hungarian Grand Prix and was near death for two days.
