In the quaint village of Pfaffenhausen, located in Germany’s Algäu region, is a rather special supercar manufacturer – Ruf.Â
Essentially, you could make Ruf off as just another German aftermarket Porsche tuner – except that it isn’t.
Ruf is a registered manufacturer in Germany, and although most of the company’s cars silhouette the Porsche product portfolio, there’s enough independent engineering going on to justify the ‘independent manufacturer’ billing.

Porsche will use the Geneva Motor Show this week to showcase its 918 Spyder concept car. The plug-in hybrid combines a V8 power unit delivering more than 500 hp and three electric motors with a combined electric output 160 kW (218 hp), and overall output of 718 hp. Fuel efficiency is said to be 78.4 U.S. mpg.Â
