vectrixElectric scooter manufacturer Vectrix is set to file for bankruptcy in 30 days after failing to find the cash infusion they need back in April. The move to Chapter 11 doesn’t surprise too many people close the company, citing both poor business practices and customer dissatisfaction as being reasons for the manufacturer’s demise.

For instance, the $10,495 Vectrix VX-1 electric scooter allegedly didn’t get the range that had been advertised, and also suffered from poor build quality. Dealers also complained about the order quantity size they would be forced to purchase, likely from Vectrix trying to push as much product out the door of its manufacturing line…  Details

cambridgeCambridge University has unveiled a solar-powered car that’s touted as Britain’s brightest hope for a 3,000-kilometre race across the Australian Outback this autumn.

Previously codenamed “Bethany,” but launched under its official name — “Endeavour” — the solar racing car reaches speeds of 60 mph using the same power as a hairdryer. It was created by Cambridge students and unveiled this week by F1 World Championship leader Jenson Button at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

ttxgpTTXGP, the force behind the inaugural zero emission motorcycle race at this year’s Isle of Man TT races, has joined forces with Auto Cycle Union Events (ACUE), the commercial arm of the Auto-Cycle Union, to run the world’s first national zero emission road race championship.

The new four-round UK Series, The TTXGP UK Championship 2010, will showcase cutting edge zero carbon technology in racing motorcycles, harnessing many of the innovations that were first shown to the world during this year’s Isle of Man TTXGP race.

Regulations and management of the Series will be handled by the newly formed Zero Carbon Racing Commission, comprising representatives from both TTXGP and ACUE… Details
