The team at Racing Green Endurance have pulled it off, driving 16,000 miles (26,000km) from the tip of Alaska down to the bottom of South America, all whilst driving an electric sports car more at home on the racing-track than the dirt-track. Making their trip all the more impressive.

The Environmental Protection Agency has finally announced fuel economy rating for the Chevrolet Volt. The news comes just one day after the EPA rated the Nissan Leaf at 99 miles per gallon equivalent.

Although not quite as high as the original 230mpg rating GM touted, the Chevy Volt will arrive with an all-electric 93mpge rating. In gas mode, the Volt doesn’t perform as well, receiving an EPA rating of 37mpg – falling 5mpg short of the Chevrolet Cruze Eco model   …  details

The Nissan Leaf and Chevrolet Volt could turn out to be the most innovative mass-produced cars in a century. By taking some or all of their power from a household electrical outlet, they offer the first real glimpse of transportation that doesn’t rely on petroleum—and could even crest the magical 100-miles-per-gallon threshold, once the official electricity-to-gasoline conversions are complete.
