American mountain bike all-rounder Marla Streb (Luna Chix) fell in love with Costa Rica five years ago, so much so that she and her husband moved there in 2007 with plans to launch Marla Streb Mountain Bike Skills Camp. A handful of women’s only camps are scheduled for 2009, with 12 camps scheduled in all.
“I was turned on to Costa Rica when I raced La Ruta for the first time, about five years ago,” Streb told BikeRadar. “I thought it would be a perfect place to start building mountain bike trails to really get into the jungles. The bicycle, one of the world’s most resolutely human-powered machines, will join the long list of devices that have switched from the manual to the electronic when a new gear system makes its debut this weekend at the Tour of California.

Awesome! Rad! Cool! Sweet! Skiers and snowboarders alike used these adjectives and many more to describe their trip down Beaver Mountain on a snow bike during a free demo of the product Feb. 7.
“It’s really pretty easy, if you’ve never skied you could pick this up faster,†said Bill Pierce of Providence. “It’s like floating down the mountain.†Pierce took advantage of the free demo day with his 12-year-old son Scott, who road the kid-sized version of the new extreme snow sport toy.
